Can you tell us about MEK Beauty Clinic?
We are a family owned business located in the popular shopping precinct on Barrabool Road right in the heart of Highton and we have been here for more than six years. We pride ourselves on being able to blend a relaxing atmosphere with the clinical standards of a hygienic medical environment.

What advice do you have for a bride-to-be when preparing for her big day?
Generally the majority of work we do with a bride-to-be is with her skin preparation. This is the most important thing to start thinking about for your personal preparation for the big day, as it needs to be considered many months beforehand.
We of course offer all of the bride’s other needs for the day, such as spray on tanning, laser hair removal, bridal makeup with Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, eyelash extensions and all other beauty needs. But in terms of being organised, we highly recommend a bride-to-be considers her skin preparation, particularly if she has any concerns she would like us to concentrate on.

What sort of treatments could a client expect in a treatment plan you prepare?
Every client’s specific needs are different but we would start by having them in for a scan in our Visia Skin Analysis, which takes a photo of your skin and shows us what’s actually happening on the surface and also underneath your skin. From here, we would decide on a course of treatments that coincides with the client’s needs, including microdermabrasions, which can be great for those who have rough and dull looking skin, skin peels, perfect for congested, pigmented, open pores and scars. Medi facials are a great starting point for those who have sensitive skin and LED light therapy is an ideal add-on treatment with any of the above to give the skin an extra glow. We would also discuss the best skin care regime for the client at home.

What range of products do you stock?
We stock a wide range of high quality medical grade skincare including Aspect, Cosmedix, Skin Medica and Societe. This is as important as the treatments you receive in our clinic, as maintaining a daily skin care routine with these products will achieve the best results.

When should a bride-to-be start thinking about her skin preparation?
Start early! The sooner she starts a skincare routine and in-salon treatments, the quicker we can get her skin in top form. The bride’s makeup on the day will only look as good as the skin underneath will allow it to. Like I always say to my clients, attaining flawless skin is just like going to the gym to get fit. Good results don’t come quick, they take time and dedication. One gym session or one healthy meal isn’t going to achieve a lot, but over time with discipline you’ll reach your goals. This is why we highly recommend brides come in at least nine to 12 months prior to their wedding date.

What does the MEK team love about preparing brides for their special day?
Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life and every woman wants to feel like a beautiful bride.
We love to make our clients feel beautiful. When you look good, you feel good and I guess that’s what it comes down to. It’s that rewarding feeling knowing you’ve had that positive impact on her special day.
