The pair, who have been together since 2009, were in Central Park when Herschel got down on one knee.
“Hersch was so nervous that he put the ring on the wrong finger,” Olivia remembers, laughing.
“And it was two sizes too big — but we were so close to Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue that we got it resized that same day.”
Olivia, a clinical nurse specialist at The Alfred and Herschel, a quality process technologist, chose the Portarlington Mill as the perfect setting for their April 5 nuptials — an extra special date because it was also Olivia’s parents’ 34th wedding anniversary.

To help keep the occasion as intimate as possible, the pair kept their guest list small, inviting 80 of their nearest and dearest.
“We found we got to speak to everyone, plus spend lots of time on the dance floor,” she says.
And dance they did, especially when they were introduced at their reception at Bellarine Estate.
“My Girl by The Temptations was playing, and the whole room broke into song,” she says.
“It was so much fun and in that moment we knew how great the night was going to be.”
