Eight-month-old Archie fell ill two days before, with his parents unsure whether the day would go ahead or if their son could join them as they started their new life together.
“Our pre-wedding plans changed very quickly – nothing was more important than Archie,” Natalie says.
Family, friends and hospital staff banded together in support. The pair’s grandmothers and Natalie’s mum stayed in hospital with Archie the night before the wedding while Natalie and Dean tried to relax and prepare.
The good news came just before 9am on the morning of their special day – Archie was coming
home on day leave.
“I got off the phone and yelled ‘My boy is coming home and I’m getting married!’” Natalie says.
With their son in tow, the couple tied the knot at the Holy Trinity Barrabool Hills in Ceres, where Dean got to see Archie for the first time since he was discharged.
“It was a magical moment for us and was captured perfectly by our photographer, Nikole,” she says.
Their reception followed at Truffleduck, where the couple got to enjoy themselves with their 125
loved ones who had offered so much love and support throughout the tough week.
“After this incredibly emotional experience, my advice for other brides is to let the love from your
family and close friends make your wedding day, because they are the ones who will always be there for you,” she says.
