HAYLEY + DAN

Flower grandmothers, a living family tree and the involvement of some adorable furry friends made for an intimate and truly personal wedding for Hayley McKee and Dan Roy.
By asking their nearest and dearest to play special roles in their big day, the Belmont couple shared their love for each other with the close-knit group of people they love the most.
Hayley parted way with the tradition of flowergirls and instead invited her dear grandmothers Mary and Margie-Rose to walk down the aisle first.
“Mary really struggles on her feet but I don’t think anyone or anything was going to stop her getting down that hill,” Hayley remembers, smiling.
“What made it even more special was my brothers holding them tight arm-in-arm.”
Hayley and Dan’s dogs Spencer and Alfie also made an appearance for the special occasion, with Alfie donning a harness with a GoPro camera to capture his own take on the big day.
The pair married in a summer ceremony on a grassy clifftop overlooking the ocean at a property in Wongarra on the Great Ocean Road.
Hayley chose a floaty, low-back gown by Grace Loves Lace and finished off her whimsical look with barefoot sandals by Forever Souls.
Her three bridesmaids picked their own pretty dresses to match the bohemian setting, while Dan and his groomsmen looked dapper in pants and shirts from Topman.
The couple planned their reception to be the ultimate relaxed party setting for their 150 guests, with a scotch bar, hay bale lounge and giant Jenga.
And when the sun went down, the ambience was just as breathtakingly beautiful for the newlyweds and their loved ones.
“Under stars, and festoon lighting, we all danced the night away,” Hayley remembers.
Hayley, who is the co-owner of Blink Twice, says the day was magical from start to finish.
“The whole day was awesome – from having an old school slumber party the night before, to being blessed with the most perfect weather conditions and then sharing our love for each other with our closest and dearest family and friends,” she says.
