A friendship blossomed when Daniella, a nurse, was working at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre, but it wasn’t until two years later that they reconnected and fell in love.
The night before Daniella’s birthday last year, Dan popped the question with a romantic proposal at their home in Torquay.
“I arrived home from work to find flowers and candles in each room of the house, with single roses leading a trail down the hallway,” Daniella remembers.
“Dan, wearing a suit and surrounded by flowers and candles with Michael Buble playing, was holding a box with a beautiful diamond ring.”
The couple celebrated their love with a seaside ceremony at Taylor Park in Torquay with 140 guests.
Their reception was at the Torquay Bowls Club, which was styled beautifully to exude a mix of French provincial and vintage themes.
Flower and candle jars were decorated with lace, ribbon and doilies, and the dessert table had a plentiful selection of tarts, cheese, fruit bread, biscuits, slices and cakes.
Dan added his own special touch by lending his own recipe for the wedding cake, which was made up of one large cake and hundreds of little tarts.
