It was Sam McIntosh’s gentlemanly charms that won over Chelsea Nankervis.
The pair met at high school, but it wasn’t until years later that romance blossomed.
“He was a true gentleman before he took me out on our first date – he met my dad and then opened the door to his 1970s Valiant for me,” Chelsea says.
The couple was married in front of a lovely big tree at Terindah Estate on December 28.
The aisle was decorated with shepherd hooks holding hanging glass jars with ivory David Austin roses.
As they said their vows, Chelsea and Sam stood on a hand-woven hemp rug – a gift from Chelsea’s parents which is now displayed at the entrance of the newlyweds’ home.
Following the ceremony, the 120 guests moved to the venue’s function area for dinner and lots of dancing.
At the reception entrance, a vintage bicycle was used as a wishing well, with its basket filled with beautiful hydrangeas.
The tables were decorated with a mixture of jars with coral, pink and white blooms, gold candelabras and an array of candles.
The seating plan, menu and place cards were designed by creative Sam, a teacher and designer at Geelong College.
“The room took my breath away,” Chelsea says.
