A thoughtful proposal turned a heartbreaking experience into a special time for Verity Lee and Brad McQuaid.
The couple’s bond grew stronger when their baby boy, Nate, spent the first four months of his life at The Royal Children’s Hospital.
During one particularly hard afternoon, the pair was taking a rare break outside when Brad popped the question.
“We had a personal joke, where most days I would ask where my ring was, waving my left hand in front of him,” Verity says.
“On this day I asked again, and as my arm was reaching across Brad’s body he slid the beautiful oval diamond on to my finger, asking me to marry him. We then ran up to our little boy’s room to share the news.”
The Geelong West couple shared their special day
with 120 of their loved ones at a stunningly styled wedding at Campbell Point House, with vibrant blooms and splashes of colour complementing the venue’s elegant setting.
Verity, who wore a beautiful lace gown from Grace Loves Lace, finished off her look with her grandmother’s ring.
“It was my something old, borrowed and blue all in one,” says Verity, whose two bridesmaids wore gorgeous maxi dresses from Carla Zampatti.
“Like any girl, I was most looking forward to Brad and our guests seeing me in my wedding gown, as this was the biggest secret for me leading up to the day.”
Brad and his groomsmen chose deep navy suits from Peter Jackson, and little Nate looked adorable in a pint-sized bow tie and braces as he watched his parents say their vows.
