Rosemary sprigs were placed on the seating cards for the couple’s 114 guests, and instead of loved ones throwing petals or rice at the ceremony,
they threw lavender.
“We packaged the lavender ourselves in sweet little glassine bags – the smell was amazing,” Annaleise remembers.
To reflect their relaxed personalities, the Wandana Heights pair toned down or parted with traditions at their November wedding at The Barn
Instead of a first dance, they invited all of their guests on to the dancefloor with them.
“It was a lot of fun and set a great atmosphere for the rest of the night,” she says.
pistachio layer cake with lemon frosting and fresh blueberries also served as favours, with guests taking home a serving each in little glass jars.
Natural woods, foliage and textures were used, with place card holders made from hand-sawn birch from their own backyard, and the aisle lined with
ironbark tree stumps from Jode’s dad’s property in Jan Juc.
Looking back on the day, Annaleise, who was a vision in a Grace Loves Lace long-sleeved lace gown, says her favourite memory is the feeling of utter
contentment when she made her way down the aisle towards her love.
“I held his hand and knew it was all perfect,” she remembers, smiling.
