MELINDA + MATTHEW
21 MARCH 2015
Melinda Sullivan and Matthew Cox were heading in very different directions when they met on the beach in Thailand in 2009.
Melinda was on holiday from her job at the United Nations in Bangkok and Matthew was en route to Europe to snowboard for six months.
Love quickly blossomed, and after a quick month-long trip to Europe, Matthew returned to
Thailand, and Melinda.
“We then travelled throughout Asia, Europe, South and Central America together before returning to my home in Geelong to start our new lives together,” Melinda remembers.
With Melinda’s former school still close to her heart, the pair decided to tie the knot at Geelong College.
“It has the most magnificent old heritage listed buildings, and at that time of year all the buildings are covered in stunning hanging ivy,” Melinda says.
“It was very special for me to celebrate the amazing day in a place that I remember so fondly from my childhood.”
Classic romance was the theme of the day, with rich royal blue hues adding to the timeless elegance.
Melinda, who was a vision in an elegant sweetheart gown, walked down the aisle to classical music played beautifully on the organ.
Swing music from the 1920s and 30s played into the evening during the reception at the college’s Dining Hall, where the couple’s 120 guests danced the night away.
Matthew, who looked dapper in a Peter Jackson suit, says he was a very proud man on the big day.
“My wife looked so amazing,” he says.
“It was wonderful to finally marry the most beautiful woman in the world and to share that with our families and friends.”
