Firstly, well done. This is a big box you’ve now ticked.
And now that you and your partner have secured your special day surroundings, it’s time to find out some finer details.
We chatted to Beth Colbert, venue manager at Mt Duneed Estate, about what couples should prioritise next when it comes to their wedding venue.
“Now it gets exciting,” Beth says.
“Send away your Save The Dates, then start to have a think about styling and theming your venue. Start looking into which suppliers will help produce your theme and lock them in.”
Like at Mt Duneed Estate, many venues have an in-house event planner who can help explain and advise elements for the lead-up to your big day.
“We work closely with each couple and assist with all aspects from choosing the right suppliers, food and beverage choices, and then tailor the structure of their day to best suit the desired feel they are going for,” she says.
Choosing the right food and drinks menu for your guests is a big part of the wedding process, but also one of the most fun because you get to taste test them yourselves first.
Beth says to lock in a tasting about two months before your wedding.
“We go through menu tastings along with wine tastings with the couples,” she says.
“This gives us the opportunity to talk through each menu option. Having a head chef onsite also gives us flexibility to tailor and ensure each dish is exactly what the bride and groom enjoy.”
Ensuring you have all plans in place, and ideally an event planner to help you finalise all your finer details, you will be able to get ready on your wedding day morning without worrying about setting up your venue.
“The dedicated event planner organises a team to set up on the day,” Beth says.
“This then leaves the bride and groom to enjoy their day without the stress of setting up in the middle of getting ready or, in the bride’s case, while she’s getting her hair and make-up done!”
