We took one look at our covergirl Morgan Jamieson and instantly wanted to steal her shimmering style.
Lucky for us, her make-up artist Hilary Holmes is happy to share her secrets on how she made our star shine bright for her big day.
A true creative in every sense of the word, graphic artist and illustrator Morgan already had an idea of how she wanted to look conjured up when she sought Hilary’s beauty skills.
“She had a mood board of looks that she liked and gave me creative license to explore them,” Hilary explains.
“Gaining that immediate trust from a client is refreshing.”
Morgan was lusting after a metallic eye paired with a dark wine-hued lip, so Hilary set about finding the perfect showstopper shade.
“The right lip choice for a bride is crucial – after all everyone is looking at the bride’s face,” advises Hilary.
“It’s important to be on the hunt for a lip colour that lasts and looks good. Be warned that so many extended wear lipsticks can dry the lip, causing it to flake.”
When choosing the right foundation for a bride’s skin, Hilary says it’s important to take into account the weather forecast for the day.
“Morgan wanted safety in matte skin with a fuller coverage, so I chose a complementary combination of foundation, blush and powder to keep her glowing and looking pretty,” she explains.
Hilary brought the wow factor by highlighting Morgan’s gorgeous eyes.
“Pulling from gold flecks through her brown eyes, I used a charcoal brown eyeshadow with a black gel liner and a set of fake lashes,” she says.
“Morgan has insane brows, so I wanted to show them off without making them any fuller. For this, I used a brow brush to clean up the shape and then finished with brow gel.”
To keep Morgan looking and feeling beautiful throughout the day, Hilary made sure she had a little kit on hand.
“As I do with every bride, I armed her with a powder and lip products so she could reapply before the ceremony and reception,” Hilary says.
